NFL Prospect KC Concepcion Inspires with Faith after Mockery of His Stutter

A top NFL draft prospect is opening up about his speech impediment after a viral clip drew negative reactions, saying he wants to encourage others facing similar challenges and that he feels blessed to be where he is today.

Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion is a potential first or second round pick in the upcoming NFL draft, thanks to a breakout junior season in 2025 when he caught 61 passes for 919 yards and nine touchdowns – winning the Paul Hornung Award as college football’s most versatile player and landing on multiple All-America teams. He ranked in the top 10 nationally in six categories and was a special teams threat with two punt return touchdowns.

Although Concepcion impressed scouts at this year’s NFL combine, video of him stuttering during an interview went viral and drew negative comments on social media – prompting the talented prospect to address the criticism in an Instagram post.

“If you have a speech impediment,” he wrote, “there is nothing wrong with us.”

He said he has “had this stutter since I can remember talking,” calling it “a part of me” and emphasizing, “This is who I am. I cannot control this.” Rather than shy away from the attention, he said he wants “to be a role model for those who may be scared to speak up,” adding, “I stand with you,” and urging followers not to let “outside person thoughts” or opinions keep them “from being great” or “achieving something in life.”

“I am blessed to be in the position that I am in and I want to help give back to those who are scared to speak up who aren't as confident,” he wrote before adding, “I stand with you” and “l will always stand with you.”

“We are different for a reason. God has blessed my life in a way I couldn't even imagine in this past year. I love yall and support yall as we climb this mountain together.”

Concepcion was a standout wide receiver and return specialist at Texas A&M after transferring from N.C. State, where he was ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year and a Freshman All-American performer.
